Dragan Jargic (DJ DRAGON) has been behind the turntables since 1987 and is one of the founding DJ's/Producers/Promoters to start the spark for the electronica scene in the 1990's in the prairies. His gear review articles have been featured on PEAVEY.COM and in the PEAVEY Monitor Magazine.
In fact PEAVEY, ELECTROVOICE, NUMARK, NATIVE INSTRUMENTS, and HARDSID have sponsored him.
As music producer, event promoter, information provider, and AXE Commercial Sales and DJ/Video Product Specialist are all hats he wears very well. Sharing his knowledge with others has always been a plus with this big lovable guy.
Because of his desire to help others and share his knowledge he has become a respected authority in the West's underground dance music scene and all of his hard work has allowed Dragan to rub elbows with some world-class DJ/Producers over the years either as an opening DJ on tour or in the studio playing with the likes of Paul Okenflold, Chemical Brothers, Chris Liberator, Misjah, Union Jack, Kimball Collins and Mark Farina (just to name a few), he also has played in front of 21,000 when he opened for the Foo Fighters, Perfect Circle and Our Lady Peace on the Western Canadian leg of the Summersault Tour.
Meeting DJ LACE, the founder of VUTAG records in 1993 the two quickly became fast friends and working in the studio on projects of his own and remixing for LACE of VUTAG, and with James Smith (Jamie Long) of Richmond Records and DJ X out of Florida. Spreading the word of West coast & the Prairie electronic sound (via promo 12" & CD's, DJ Mix Compilation and the Internet), has allowed DJ Dragon to become a well-respected authority in the mid-west underground dance music scene.
An active member of Richmond Records has helped him to stay on the cutting edge of music and keeping his audience entertained, his last residency was at PURE every Friday & Saturday nights. Prior to that he held down a 5 year residency at Therapy Afterhours playing for 5 hours+ to a packed house every Saturday, but now you can catch him rekindling that same vibe every Friday at Y Afterhours, he still can hold court like no one else can.
In 2004 Dragon was the official DJ for the AHL - Edmonton Road Runners. For the 2005-2006 and the 2006/2007 NHL season he is working the LED/Matrix for the Edmonton Oilers and co-produced the music for the Stanley Cup Playoffs during the Oliers spectacular run for Lord Stanley's Cup in '05-'06.
Holding down residencies, playing parties, touring? NHL Hockey. Does this man ever sleep? I guess not.
He lives by one credo, "Innovate or Die" is the motto, and that motto is working well.
